What is the role of a counsellor in My Portfolio?

My Portfolio is the only e-portfolio tool on the Polish market that allows you to collaborate with an educational and career counsellor. You don’t have to do this, but it may prove helpful.

From the User’s point of view

As you review the tool, you may notice that with certain modules, such as preparing a portfolio or a development plan, it would be helpful to have an outsider’s perspective. When choosing evidence to support competences, it’s a good idea to ask someone with the appropriate experience, “Does this really reflect my knowledge?”, “Is this enough, or do I need to add something else?”. When planning further development steps, it’s worth consulting the course of action with them.

That’s why in My Portfolio you can share your profile with a career and educational counsellor of your choice and discuss individual elements on an ongoing basis using the built-in messaging tool.

This has an additional advantage. If you already work with a counsellor who helps you identify your competences, strengths, and areas for development, you can use My Portfolio as part of a skills audit. This way, you’ll have all the information gathered during this process in one place.

From the point of view of a career and educational counsellor

In your work, you probably use many tools to support others in finding the best path to educational or professional development. The My Portfolio website is primarily used to collect evidence to support competences and determine development plans. It is therefore a tool that you can offer your clients to use on their own.

However, if you need to discuss something in real time, you don’t have to exchange loads of e-mails. Simply create a free counsellor’s account on the website (the appropriate option appears during registration), and your client will be able to share their profile with you. This will give you insight into the progress of the work and the ability to chat using the built-in messaging tool.

You can also use My Portfolio when using the Skills Audit Method to determine a person’s competences, prepare a portfolio, and develop a plan for further action. This is useful because the client can work independently, and the results of their work are immediately recorded in digital form.
